Amazing cloud formation

Amazing lenticular cloud forming near Valle Gran Rey yesterday afternoon (above) taken from the viewpoint at 'Curva del Queso'. It had developed into a large gloomy-looking cloud (below) 50 minutes later when seen from near the cemetery of Arure at about 2500ft altitude, while the sun kept shining at sea level in Valle Gran Rey.

No news is good news

It's spring time on La Gomera island and off-season. Spring and early summer are La Gomera's most quiet times and there isn't much to report.
However I can reassure my readers that I'm regularly in contact with my winter exile and I follow the local media. Should anything worth reporting happen there I will of course bring it to you on this blog...

Waterfalls In Valle Gran Rey

Even though it hasn't rained anymore for several days there are still waterfalls cascading into Valle Gran Rey. One of them is tumbling in the deep ravine of the Barranco del Agua which also contains a well in its bottom that produces 1,8 million litres of water, supplying most households in the valley with clean, cool water.

Donut Cloud

There was great variety in the skies yesterday. The day started with almost completely clear blue skies (as it did today) and ended with rainbows to the north while interesting cloud formations alternated with sunshine to the south. See for yourself:
Blue skies with Portuguese TAP Airbus A330  en route from Porto Alegre
in Brazil to Lisbon approaching La Gomera at 39.000 feet.

The late afternoon sky looking north brought drizzle in the upper valley and rainbows...
…while looking south-west brought this donut-shaped cloud (right)
