Film castings in La Gomera again

La Gomera's island government through their La Gomera Film Commission has announced castings for extras and secondary actresses for the shooting of a Neflix series here in spring. The first casting will take place in the visitors centre near the beach in the island's capital on the 4th of February 2019 and the following day in the tourist office in La Playa, Valle Gran Rey. See poster above for the times. They're looking for women of all ages over 18 and for girls  between 8 and 12 years old. All applicants must bring copies of their Spanish DNI, or their foreigners registration number (NIE), their social security number and a document showing that they have a bank account. Selected budding film stars will be paid and the work which is handled here by Sur-Film is insured. More information can be had by contacting above email address.
This time males need not apply. The above image was taken during the casting for Ron Howard's 'In The Heart Of The Sea' in 2013 when I was very lucky to get a lot of work as a double.

A festival floats to La Gomera

Four sailing
boats on a 15- month journey to seven countries with a couple of dozen mostly French  artists, musicians, dancers and performers aboard will visit the harbour of Vueltas, Valle Gran Rey, this weekend to show their talent during a two-day festival here. They will also collaborate with local artists and the event is facilitated by the Canarian ports authority.

Their interesting programme includes concerts with music from Balkan to Latino to Jazz, a DJ, acrobatics, live painting, and exhibitions (one of them underwater) and more. Films will be projected onto the sails of their boats and you can get French crepes. You may  visit the boats, go on a short sailing trip or book one of several workshops (Click the programme above for details). The troupe is part of the French 'Artquipage' association and their show begins on Saturday, January 21st 2017, from 5 pm until midnight and on Sunday from 3pm to 10pm. (Update: Entertainment starts at 4 pm on both days. Workshops on both days from 3-5 pm. There are some more changes to the programme above to include local artists). Don't miss what promises to be a very entertaining weekend with a wandering arts festival. The performances are located at the end of the pier in the inner harbour and are free of charge, but donations will be appreciated, I'm sure.
The festival had initially been planned to take place last weekend, but was moved forward by one week. Some of the musicians used the delay to play a few impromptu low-key gigs in the meantime to enthusiastic crowds, like their excellent Jazz band (below, sorry for the poor image quality):

New trailer for Ron Howard film shot on La Gomera

Above is the latest official trailer for the film 'In The Heart Of The Sea', directed by Ron Howard and shot partially on location in La Gomera. It was published by Warner Bros. only a couple of days ago. The film, which stars Chris Hemsworth and Cillian Murphy among others, is due for release on  December 11th this year in most parts of the world.
I'm really looking forward to finally see the movie, especially as I had the luck to have been working on the set as a double during the shooting of many scenes at sea just off La Gomera, now almost two years ago.
